About

This blog is the project of an Oberlin College English major and quasi-professional writer. The seed of the blog is my capstone paper, “Speed Limits,” which explores Jack Kerouac On the Road, Tom Wolfe’s The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, and Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as lenses through which to trace the formation, dissemination, and dissolution of the American counterculture from the 1950’s to the 1970’s. Beats, hippies, Gonzos, I’ve got it all.  And I’ve got the Works Cited page to prove it.

From there, I’m moving on to book reviews, music posts, and other countercultural fodder that strikes my fancy. Suggestions welcome, comments always appreciated, and critiques begrudgingly tolerated. Thanks for visiting!
